About Me

 

Dalit Agronin (she/her) is a New York City based Artist. She has been choreographing professionally for the past five years across New York. Additionally, Dalit is a certified Personal Trainer & Yoga instructor and teaches group classes and private sessions virtually and in NYC.

Dalit Agronin, a native Texan, graduated magna cum laude in 2016 from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA where she received a BA in Dance and Psychology. While at Muhlenberg College she performed in works choreographed by Jeffrey Peterson, Randall Anthony Smith, and Guest Artist Dorrell Martin as well as student choreographers. Dalit had the opportunity to study abroad at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance where she studied for six months learning Batsheva Repertory and Gaga technique from Israeli artists under the direction of Aya Israeli. In her senior year of college Dalit wrote her Psychology Senior Thesis on the “benefits of dance on the sense of self” where she conducted a six week dance program to test this with middle schoolers in the Allentown School District. 

After college, Dalit attended American Dance Festival’s summer 2016 festival in North Carolina and winter 2016 festival in New York City with a Staff Assistant Scholarship. She was also a scholarship student at the Carolyn Dorfman Summer Intensive. Shortly afterwards, Dalit moved to New York City in pursuit of a career in dance. 

During her first year in NYC, Dalit danced with Regina Nejman & Company as well as Kelley Donovan & Dancers, and was an Assistant Teaching Artist for Notes In Motion/Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre. 

Dalit has been making her own work for the past five years in NYC. In her first year of choreographing, her work was showcased as part of the Lehigh Valley Dance Festival in Bethlehem, PA. It was also shown in NYC through NACHMO and The Creators Collective, at venues such as the Tank, the Actors Fund, Triskelion Arts, and Hudson Guild Theatre. In the fall of 2018 she began working on developing a new piece which was shown through "mouthfull" at Center for Performance Research and “Moving Men of Dance” at Dixon Place.

In the spring of 2019 Dalit premiered a new work as part of a Split Bill Show with Between the Seas Dance Festival. Excerpts of this piece were performed in fall 2019 as part of Your Move:NJ’s Modern Dance Festival. In Fall 2019, Dalit started her first residency with Motion Arts Dance Studio in Maplewood, NJ and has been working with them ever since!

In the Winter of 2022, Dalit was chosen as one of 5 choreographers for LA contemporary Dance company’s choreo Lab to be mentored and to set work on professional dancers in the LA community. 

Dalit showcased a rendition of the work created in LA in May 2022 as part of CREATURE with ChristinaNoel and the creature and premiered a new work as part of Riverfront Dance Festival with Hartford Dance Collective in June 2022. 

Most recently she premiered an immersive evening of live music and dance this past February at Nook Coffee Shop in Bushwick. She is excited to bring back a new rendition this summer. An exerpt of this work was performed with The Craft at The Wandering Barman in April 2023.

Dalit has worked with contemporary teachers Mike Esperanza, Emily Greenwell and Rachel Hettinger and dances with Mason Lee Dance Theatre.

Dalit is also a certified Personal Trainer and 375 HR RYT and teaches both virtually and in the NYC area yoga, strength, and yoga sculpt classes. She teaches for the 92nd St Y, Y7 studio, Frequency Movement and freelance classes around the city. Dalit is very thankful for the continued love and support she receives from her friends and the amazing people in her life.
